in occult imagery th pelican is often shown as bringing its young back from th dead with its own blood. this was used as allegory to represent certain phases of alchemy, but that’s a long ass story for another day. over time this imagery was further adapted by th church to represent Christ.
this piece with Christ as th self sacrificing pelican was created for th “Jesus is coming” show at R&R gallery in Los Angeles.
