th mouth of hell is a classic composition. it was my great privilege to offer it up as our challenge this month, amongst @theoutlyres th mutant art crew. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’ve had it on my horizon for awhile now, but I honestly saw it’s potential to bring out th best amongst us all.
I began my interpretation in a more strait forward approach, with th mouth facing forward, perhaps you saw my early layers, previewed in my stories. but after my first day of work I sat before th altar and communed with Thoth, my intermediary to th muse, and this alternate compositional approach was revealed to me. hail Thoth!
some of you may recognize a few of th creatures featured in this piece as being lifted from th work of Hieronymus Bosch. yeah. damn right. what?! you think I could undertake such a project without paying homage to th great master? HELL no. frankly we wouldn’t have th same conceptualization of hell that we do without his gifts to human imagination. because what is hell truly? classically it was defined as disconnection from god, which occultists would further extrapolate as disconnection from th self. disorder. I against I. a lake of fire is nothing compared to th burning catastrophe of self against self. but I digress, booooorrrring! gimmie some horn and hoof, tentacles and teeth, hypno-disks and horrors.
